Story Salon: Love/Anti-Love

Story Salon is a new ongoing storytelling series at At My House, hosted by Kassie Caines, centered on real people sharing true stories from their lives, each night shaped around a different theme. Our first installment, LOVE / ANTI-LOVE, explores the many sides of love — romantic, platonic, complicated, rejected, and redefined. Featuring 11 speakers, the evening brings together honest, first-person stories told live in an intimate setting.

Book Binding Workshop

Book Binding Workshop

Join us for a bookbinding workshop led by Marilyn Sanchez of Oîma! Participants will learn the French link stitch, a decorative and functional bookbinding technique. They will be guided through folding signatures, preparing materials, and stitching their own hand-bound book. Along the way, we'll explore the rhythm of stitching and the meditative nature of working with paper and thread. Participants will leave with a completed handmade book, foundational bookbinding skills, and a deeper appreciation for the creative, tactile process of making by hand. All materials provided. Please note: Tickets are non-refundable, so make sure you can make it before grabbing yours! We may take photos during the event for documentation and promo — just let us know if you'd prefer not to be photographed.

Abundance for Artists Meet Up

Abundance for Artists Meet Up

If you make things — professionally, semi-professionally, or just because you have to — this is for you. Abundance for Artists is a laid-back meetup for Philly creatives to spend a couple hours in the same room. You don't need a polished bio or a five-year plan. You can be mid-project, mid-pivot, or mid-existential spiral. Come talk about what you're working on, ask the question you've been meaning to ask, trade resources, or meet someone new. Or just sit, listen, and be around other people who care about making things.

Portraiture in the Style of Persian Manuscripts

Portraiture in the Style of Persian Manuscripts

This four-week course introduces participants to the history, materials, and foundational techniques of Mughal miniature painting — a refined tradition within Persian manuscript art known for its intricate detail, luminous color, and intimate portraiture. Led by artist Zainab Zulfiqar, the workshop blends historical context with demonstrations and guided practice, culminating in your own small-scale painted portrait. No prior art experience is required. Zainab will handcraft traditional brushes for the course, honoring historic methods, and we'll be working on specialty paper sourced directly from Pakistan — materials chosen with care and intention. Slow, precise, and deeply focused — a rare opportunity to study a centuries-old tradition in a small group setting. Please note: Tickets are non-refundable, so make sure you can make it before grabbing yours! We may take photos during the event for documentation and promo — just let us know if you'd prefer not to be photographed.

Philly Reads Philly Book Club: Crying in H Mart

Philly Reads Philly Book Club: Crying in H Mart

Philly Reads Philly is our neighborhood book club at At My House — focused on books about Philadelphia or written by authors rooted here. It's co-hosted with journalist Kiley Bense — so we're not just chatting, we're really digging in. For our fifth meeting, we're reading Crying in H Mart by Michelle Zauner — a memoir about mothers and daughters, food and memory, grief and identity, and the complicated ways we find our way back to ourselves. It's funny in places, devastating in others, and full of very specific, very human details that linger long after you finish. Read it, underline it, dog-ear it — then come sit with us and talk about it.
